Salon aprons refer to special protective garments worn on the front part of the body. This garment is also known as a stylist apron and is very useful to a hairstylist to prevent clothes from being damaged by the chemicals used. They have straps which are fastened at the back around the waist and neck and may either cover the whole or just a part of the front section of the body.

These garments are very useful in the daily duties of a stylist. They help in keeping off any form of stains arising from hair colors or chemicals. Their smoothness prevents hair clippings from sticking on them during haircuts. There are also pockets to hold essential tools like scissors, combs and hairsprays so that they are easily accessed when needed for use. Moreover, it is possible to use them as uniform for employees in a salon by ensuring that each person has the same design.

To make them more effective there are a number of factors that have to be considered when designing them which makes them different from other forms of protective garments like those worn during household chores. The used to make them must be able to repel water and other forms of debris like hair clippings. Another requirement is that these aprons must have one pocket or more for the purpose of holding the tools required.

There are several unique features that enable these garments to be very effective and should be considered when making a selection. Of most importance is the material by which they are made which should be able to resist water, chemicals and any form of debris like hair clippings. It is also important to ensure that one or more pockets are present to make them more convenient to use.

A majority are made of cotton, nylon and a combination of polyester and cotton fabrics. These fabrics are specially treated to enable them resist chemicals and water and hence give maximum protection. There are male, female, unisex and convertible aprons. Disposable ones are also available but these have limited use. To assist the busy stylists who use a wide variety of tools there are multipurpose ones that are worn for a wide variety of tasks.

Depending on the specific needs of an individual it is possible to customize aprons appropriately. They can be made to feature the business logo and the names of the employee or the business. The pockets can be reinforced and their openings made to be wider for convenience. Some other features like tool belts can be added to make them very effective.

In addition to the aprons used by the stylists there are those worn by customers as they are served to prevent any damage on their clothes. These are available for use in the salons in different designs and sizes to cater for the diverse customers. There are those meant for kids and others for adults.

Salon aprons are a major work asset in the hair and beauty field since they facilitate convenient running of tasks while at the same time providing protection. The greater varieties available together with the additional features make them very useful. It is important to maintain them in good state to portray a positive image to the customers and for hygiene reasons.
