The end of year fashion weeks recently drew to an end, revealing what people will be wearing in 2013. Jewels will be losing a little of their boldness, with dramatic wrist cuffs slowly drawing to a close. Tribal trends are turned into daintier, more elegant versions of their former selves. Spring and winter are both inspired by the Fifties Hollywood princess of Hitchcock's time. Silver jewelry designers will be providing their clients with a feminine, finished style.

There is still some tribal flavor in accessories but the look is far more precious than it was before. More valuable gemstones such as emeralds and rubies will be used for their bright colors and capacity to capture an African flare. Shapes are irregular and graphic but the gems used add a sense of femininity.

A little of the ancient Egyptian is making an appearance in the world of jewels. Scarabs and lotuses are being placed on pieces inspired by ancient Rome, Egypt and Greece. Graphic shapes are combined with vibrant gemstones. The effect is impossibly austere and wild. Metals receive interesting weaves that make the look ornate and bold.

In keeping with the Fifties Hitchcock heroine, jewels will be daintier and more elegant. Cameo brooches are undoubtedly the most important accessories next year. They took a main role on catwalks in October and September fashion weeks, worn with tailored suits and feminine blouses. All other pieces need to be a little subtler, adding a dainty, antique flare to a lace inspired look.

Jewels are being designed as collectible works of art today. Galleries all over the world are exhibiting bracelets, necklaces and earrings as artworks that are one-off designs exquisitely handcrafted for the individual. These allow the wearer an element of personal expression. Found objects are crucial in several artistic movements, so they will be transformed into diamond encrusted accessories with their own history and story.

Jewels as art can be costly but in exchange they offer the wearer the role of an agent of change. Being fashionable can now entail some support of the arts. Wearers will be donning pieces that are made and designed on principles of politics, ideology and expression.

Jewelry's move into more ideological territory is happening in inspirational ways. Cuffs and bracelets are given text mantras to remind the wearer of her real treasures in life. Messages contain phrases such as 'love life.' This fashion is carving plenty of depth into the fashion movement. It is becoming an increasingly relevant part of personal philosophy.

Gems and metals are graduated in tone so that colors blend and meld into one another. Emeralds steadily turn into electric blue sapphires and gold gradually turns into silver. The effect is dramatic and contemporary, adding a modern twist to the trendy vintage fashions.

Fashion's focus on color is incredibly relevant in accessories today. Customized jewels are carrying personal messages and names that communicate the life story of the wearer. Lemon yellow, pastels, coral and emerald are all colors to choose. Silver jewelry designers will be adding plenty of color to wardrobes in summer and winter.
